Tips for trips

Borovany, wher can you find on the large square the new-reconstructed building of ex-monastery, church and especially the town-hall with the very interesting frontage.

Trhové Sviny 7 km far from pension. Trhové Sviny is an ancient town the remarkable square and church. Less than 2 kilometers from the town is Buškův Hamr and nearly 2 kilometers is Svatá Trojice.

For hiking are very atractive mountains, which stretch away from the South-east of České Budějoce to the state border. The nearest are:

Slepičí Hory (Hen Mountains),which are created by one edge between the highest mountain Konout (Cockerel) and the mountain named Vysoký kámen or Slepice (High stone or Hen)
Novohradské Hory (Novodvorske Mountains) including attractive hiking areas:
Trip from Dobrá voda across Kraví hora to Benešov nad Černou
Trip along the state border from Šejby to the upper stream of Lužnice, through the crossover of Bohemia/ Upper Austria/ Lower Austria and to the highest peak of Novohradské Hory (Novohradské Mountains) named Kamenec. It is necessary to divide this trip into few days.
Mandelstein – the highest peak of the spur of Novohradské Hory up to Nové Hrady. It´s very interesting to make a trip from the border checkpoint Nové Hrady to the state border, around “Přírodní hraniční kámen” (“Natural boundary stone”) up to the peak Mandelstein with the forest chapel and with a beautiful view into Bohemia. Than it is possible to continue in a very nice nature scenery up to border checkpoint Šejby.

Stropnice is one of the last non-regulated rivers in the Czech republic. The part of the river from Nové Hrady to Borovany is the best. On the other hand, the valley of Stropnice river is modified on Nové Hrady in the english park named Terčino údolí (with non-artificial waterfall).
Dračiceis a forgotten affluent of Lužnice river, it is not signed with tourism signals. But from from Františkov there is a path arround the river leading up to state border. The valley is attractive also behind the state border up to the light railway.
The border valley of the Malše river is another forgotten nook without the tourism signals. But there is a new-reconstructed gothic church in Cetviny and interesting area of the pilgrimage place named U Svatého kamene (At the saint stone).
The drainage area of Pohorský stream is even known today. The most atractive is the spring area of the Pohorský stream and recovered village Pohoří na Šumavě.

Penzion Valeš is situated at the altitude of 500 m on the edge of Třeboňská pánev (Třeboň field). There is lot of very popular cycling routes in this area, which are crossing the Třeboň field. There is also a lot of atractive tourism destinations on these cycling routes:Červené Blato, Třeboň, Nové Hrady, Stráž nad Nežárkou,…
There is a lot of cycling routes on the other side leading to Slepičí and Novohradské Hory (Slepičí and Novohradské Mountains). But these are very physical-intensive.
The third group of cycling routes are cycling routes on the Austria side of border. These cycling routes are divided into two groups:

Cycling routes leading from the Austria side of the state border
Cycling routes leading to Danube river.
Especially cycling route leading through the Kamp river valley is very attractive.

In Novohradské Hory (Novohradské mountains) there are some ski-parks, which are not well-known among skiers. Because of this fact these ski-parks are cheep and not full of skiers. The best Ski-parks are:
Karlstift, 39 km from Borovany. On the other side of the hill are the sources of th Lužnice river
Sandl, 50 km from Borovany.
The best way into this winter-parks is through Nové Hrady town.

It is possible to swim in some ponds but the best is swimming in flooded sand-pits in Lužnice river valley (between Chlum u Třeboně, through Suchdol nad Lužnicí up to state border). Suchdol nad Lužnicí is situated 18 km from Penzion Valeš.

And the best at the end! The covered swimming pool is even in Borovany. But near Borovany are also two great and absolutely different wellness centers:
Lázně Aurora v Třeboni(Aurora spa in Třeboň)
Sole Felsen Bad in Gmünd, which is devided into two worlds:

The world of swimming pools with warm salt water and many water attractions.
The world with saunas, which can really satisfy even the most exacting visitors.
